International
Information For overseas families there is some special information that you need to know, as you prepare your child for departure to the USA, and CODY. Visas/Passports. Having appropriate passports and visas for entry into the USA is essential. We don't want your child detained at immigration or passport control at their port of entry. Please make sure that all entry paperwork and requirements are completely correct. Also, please make sure their visa is marked multiple re-entry, so that if your child wishes to visit Canada while with us, they can re-enter the USA. Camp Clothing. It is important that you contact our Camp Clothing (The Camp Spot) supplier well in advance of the summer. The Camp Spot will ship your order directly to camp in June. Your child can then bring it home with them at the end of the summer. The Camp Spot has full fax and credit card service, and you may find this the best way to place and receive your orders. We recommend dealing directly with The Camp Spot as we cannot be held responsible for any missing orders. Linens. For all international campers we offer rental of bedding/linens/towels for $45 per child. This saves paying for additional airline baggage charges for these bulky items. Laundry of these and other camper's clothing items is done on a weekly basis. Travel. Please tell us of friends, family or business associates in the United States for emergencies, airport contacts and to advise us if they will bring your child to a camp group for travel, or if our staff must meet the camper on arrival at the airport. We recommend Boston/Logan as the arrival airport because in New York, most flights land at John F. Kennedy airport, and campers must then change to La Guardia or Newark airports for the flight to camp. In Boston we use only one airport, which makes connections or collection much easier. Airport pick-ups, transportation, escorts and baggage transfer are billed additionally to your childs Trip and Canteen account at the end of the summer. Please give full details as soon as possible on the Travel Forms provided, of arrival and departure flights, including dates, times, airline and flight numbers, and again, any US contacts you will be using. We'll confirm departure home plans and can have your friends/family meet your child at camp, at the airport, or our staff will check them in at the airline for their travels back home, whatever is needed to assist your family. Trip and Canteen. All campers have a Trip and Canteen account deposit a camp. This covers any trips your child elects to go on, some pocket money, and purchases made at our camp store. Many international campers want to do extra shopping and gift buying, and therefore we suggest an extra spending allowance of $100 over and above the regular Trip and Canteen, making for a total deposit of $300. The unused balance will be refunded to you at the end of the summer. Should your child spend more than $300, we will bill you the outstanding balance, again at the end of the summer. Any additional spending money you might wish your child to bring should only be brought in travelers checks or cash, not a personal check. Payments. Payments are welcome in the form of cash (limited to $500), checks, wire transfers, or credit cards. Please note that any bank charges incurred by Cody associated with tuition deposits or tuition payments made by families, will be billed to that campers Trip and Canteen account. Communications.
Whenever possible, we prefer that communications with our international
families take place by phone, fax, e-mail, and DHL/FedEx. Your child is
far from home, and we want the entire family to be as comfortable as possible
about their being with us. Please dont hesitate to contact us at
any time with questions, comments or concerns. We also ask that no calls
be made to your child during her/his first week with us, to allow speedy
acclimation to camp life. This is very important. It is also important
that familes do not call too often as this can also unsettle a camper. |
